It’s Time To #bravelygo

Hi friends. Big news tonight.

Firstly, let me say thank you. Thank you for reading my blog and following along with my journey for the last two years. This blog changed my life. Now it’s time for me to #bravelygo to the next step.

I’ve been talking about starting a new project for a long time. That time has finally come. I’m very excited to announce that my new company is coming together. I’ve talked about this in a few different ways over the last couple months, so let me clarify what exactly is happening.

bravely

bravely is a new company that I’ve formed. As promised, my new company is designed to help women access and control their money. Men are welcome too, but the mission is to help level the playing field for ladies.

bravely will have articles, videos, courses, and interviews. It will be bursting with online content for you to swallow up and turn into cash dollaz. I’ll also be hosting live events in Austin TX over the next year, starting in January.

Come join me! The site is aimed at women who don’t have the financial education or the time in their lives to turn their dreams into reality. bravely is my passion project, and I am so excited to fall headfirst into it.

I’m still working on the website, but you’ll be able to find me over at bravelygo.co starting today! Sign up for the newsletter and you’ll be notified when we launch! You can also follow me on Twitter , and follow bravely on Instagram!

But what happens to From Frugal To Free?

Great question. It both warms my heart and brings a tear to my eye to tell you that I have sold this site. I’ll be staying on as a staff writer, so you’ll still hear my witticisms and frugal voice on this site. I just won’t be the owner anymore.

Selling this site was one of the strangest experiences of my life. This is my baby. I grew this from nothing. It was just a place where I ranted about being broke and catering leftovers.

Now it’s my tiny corner of the internet. I started so many things here. From actual series like the FIRE for Noobs, to personal milestones like opening my retirement account. The highs have been high and the lows have been low.

At first, I thought that I would simply transform this site into bravely. I already had an audience, and I’ve poured my heart into this blog. Why start over? Alas, it was not to be. bravely’s content is going to be so different that it made no sense. Better to start from scratch.

Fun Bonus!

bravely was born from a simple idea: that you are capable. Paying off my student loans showed me that I was strong in ways I had never imagined. Becoming more financially literate has lead me to become more financially empowered. Being financially empowered has enabled me to quit my non-profit job, become a freelancer, and ultimately, to start my own company.

I want bravely to help others do the same thing in their own lives. To that end, to help launch bravely, I’ll be hosting an Instagram challenge starting December 12th!

It’s going to be a blast y’all!  To participate, go follow bravely on Instagram and sign up for the challenge here. I’ll send over a worksheet with challenge details on Sunday, December 11th.

So this is it. My last post as the owner and operator of From Frugal to Free. I’m not crying, but it feels like I should be. I’m so proud of this blog and of our community. I’m so happy to have gotten to meet people in this world.

Please keep in touch! My email is kara@bravelygo.co.

Again let me say: thank you for being here for the past two years. This online community has opened my world in the best ways. I truly hope that you’ll come join me at bravely. Or stick around here to continue to hear my thoughts on personal finance for all.

  1. Wow, that’s a huge step for you Kara and I wish you all the best in the new venture. It’s a pity this blog loses you from the Boardroom but good to hear that you’re staying on for a while to ensure that it stays on track.

Starting your own company from scratch is certainly a brave and bold move and I take my hat off to you starting something that has such honourable intentions. I’m sure that the experience you have gained from running Frugal To Free and the contacts and friends you have made along the way will ensure your success.

I’m heading over to bravely now for a squizz and I hope you don’t mind me signing up, you know, being a guy and all ;-). Good luck Kara and all the best from Get FIRE’d asap x
