I know I am overdue on an in depth post but I promise I have them coming! This week has been particularly crazy for me because it’s Amplify Austin today! Well, and tomorrow. Amplify Austin is a 24 hour period of giving to non profits in central Texas. It started at 6pm tonight and goes until 6pm Friday, CST. I have been swamped with this campaign for the last few weeks, lining up donors, doing promotional work through social media and planning a watch party.
So I haven’t been as on top of my blogging as I’d like. Never fear, I’ve got some good stuff coming down the pipeline. Tonight though, on a quick break from Tweeting furiously about my non profit, I want to share some good news: I am officially in four digits!
I owe $9,605 as of today! It feels almost surreal to be in four digits. I’ve been in five for years. I have been making payments for so long and watching the balance drop to sub $10,000 is incredible. While watching the balance fall any amount is gratifying, being in four digits feels much more manageable. I know it’s still a lot of money and it’s still going to take me months to pay off, but $9,605 is a number I can conceive of in a way $25,302 was not.
I am really excited and really looking forward to knocking out this last bit of debt. As my best friend said, the end isn’t quite in sight, but it’s just around the river bend.

Congratulations Kara! Your work is paying off. I hope you look in the mirror and tell yourself how proud you are of your effort and discipline. I’ve only been reading your blog for a couple months and I am proud of you!
Thank you tim! That’s so kind of you. I am proud but it’s strange, the closer I get , the more anxious I get about paying it off. It’s almost the more manageable it becomes the more I think “You should pay this off RIGHT NOW!” I have to remind myself it’s going to take some time! =)
Your new mantra…be the turtle and not the hare.
Hi there! I stumbled on your blog recently (through Deat Debt), and I must say that you have such drive and determination to get that debt paid! Congrats on being in four figures. You are totally committed!
Welcome! And thank you. I am trying my best to be free and clear of this debt ASAP. Thanks for stopping by my corner of the web!
Congratulations Kara! You’re so close!
Thank you! Just around the river bend, hahah!
