Sunshine Blogger Award!

sunshine-blogger

This weekend the wonderful MJ over at Dream Beyond Debt nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. A big thanks to her! For this award I am to answer a few questions then nominate and contact a few other bloggers with the same award. It’s a fun and cool way to share some facts about yourself and fellow bloggers who inspire you!

So without further ado here are the questions for me to answer.

What made you start blogging about your finances?

I felt like I was drowning in my student loans last year. When I made the decision to get serious about them I turned to the internet to see if anyone had any tips or tricks to speed up debt payoff. That was my introduction to the personal finance community. I was hooked! I was also pretty intense about my debt payoff. I did a month long spending fast in February, I lived off catering leftovers, I walked instead of driving, I sold things for fun money….I started blogging as a way to share my personal journey and as a way to keep myself accountable to my payoff strategy.

Have your dreams changed since you started blogging? If so, then how?

Yes they’ve changed. I’ve seen so many people take the leap into full time freelance work. Now I have a private dream of taking on more freelance work and maybe one day being a full time freelancer. 🙂 It’s still very much a dream right now though.

What’s the most significant change in your life since you started blogging?

I’ve become debt free! Sooner than I hoped too. Blogging did keep me accountable and helped me maximize the benefits I got out of my jobs so I could become debt free faster.

What’s the one item in your budget that you just cannot, for whatever reason, seem to shave down or lower? What’s the reason?

I’m pretty good at controlling the purse strings but ever since becoming debt free I have been much more lax about my candy budget. I’m a sugar fiend! I only grocery shop occasionally but when I do a Twix (or two, let’s be very honest here) always manages to end up in that basket of mine…

What’s your favorite show to binge watch on Netflix or Hulu?

GIlmore Girls! I love that show. Also The West Wing. I love fast dialogue. I also like to pretend I’m working in the White House sometimes. Writing policy, arguing with Republicans, serving my country…if I don’t become a freelancer is it too late to become the President?

So that’s me! Onto the new nominees:
