How To Concoct Your Own Cleaning Solution

Cleaning Solution Concoction

There are so many chemicals in store-bought cleaners. Of course, you can purchase all-natural cleaners at some stores. However, they tend to be really expensive. And why would you spend that kind of money when you can create your own cleaning solution concoction instead? After all, with a few simple products, you can easily make cleaning supplies that will meet almost all of your household needs.

What You Need for a Cleaning Solution Concoction

Different products obviously work well for different types of messes. Moreover, you might choose one product for a floor or counter and a different one for a carpet. That said, though, there are some basic items that you need for your cleaning solution concoction. With these products, in varied combinations, you can clean almost anything:

1. Water

You’ll mix water with most other cleaning products on this list. Of course, you can use tap water. However, depending on the water quality where you live, you might wish to buy distilled water instead.

2. White Vinegar

Distilled white vinegar is one of the most common ingredients in household cleaners. For example, mix it with water to clean a variety of different messes around the home. Just water and vinegar together, in different ratios, can clean countertops, floors, bathroom tiles, and more.

3. Baking Soda

If you don’t keep this common household item around your house, then you need to stock up immediately. It’s one of the most affordable products out there that has hugely varied uses. How many things in your house can use to settle your heartburn as well as to clean your carpets? Alone it’s a great deodorizer. Mixed into a paste with water, it’s great for messes that need a little bit of scrubbing.

Tip: Mix baking soda and white vinegar together to create a terrific drain cleaner. I use this often to unclog my bathroom drain.

Note: Salt also sometimes works for scrubbing. In particular, people use it to polish brass. However, use it sparingly so as not to damage your items. Baking soda is a softer exfoliant for your household items.

4. Lemon Juice

Lemons are a great addition to the above cleaner. You add a little bit of fresh-squeezed lemon juice and you’ve got a nice smell that enhances the clean of your home. For example, you can mix lemon juice, water, and vinegar to create a cleaning solution concoction for your fruits and vegetables.

5. Olive Oil

That’s right, use olive oil as a cleaner around the house. It’s mostly useful for polishing wood. For example, a simple combination of olive oil and fresh lemon juice is a great polisher for most wood items in your home. But you might be surprised to learn that you can use it to shine up everything from stainless steel to your favorite pearl necklace.
